How many professionals can I contact?
You choose up to 10 recommended pros near you and invite them to respond. Other vetted pros in the area can also show interest: you accept or decline each one. You decide who receives your contact details.
How is the estimate calculated?
It starts from Octo's local reference prices for that kind of job, adjusted to your answers (surface, type of work, options…). You get a range of ±30%, VAT included. It is indicative and free: only the professional's quote is binding.
Who receives my contact details?
Your project is visible, without your name or contact details, to the vetted pros of that trade who work in your area. An overview (service, town, date, estimated range) is also shown to the vetted pros of the same category across your destination. Your name, email and phone number only go to the pros you invite (or that Octo invites at your request), if they accept, or whose interest you accept.
How are professionals vetted?
Every professional submits their documents (ID, registration, insurance), which our team checks before their account is activated. They must also save a payment card before they can contact you.
How do professionals pay Octo?
You never pay Octo. A professional pays only when they are put in touch with you and receive your contact details. That price depends on the estimated size of the project and is lower once several pros have been put in touch on the same request. Octo takes no commission on your job. Some professionals also subscribe to Premium to appear at the top of the recommended list, labelled “Featured”.
What if no professional replies?
Your request stays open for 30 days. Meanwhile, other pros in the area can show interest, and a declined or expired invitation frees its place so you can invite someone else. If no professional is available near you yet, the Octo team looks for one and lets you know. You can also write to us at any time.
